56th EOD Working Group Meeting

The EOD COE delegation represented by COL R. Császár, LTC C. Efrim, LTC A. Hugyar, MAJ M. Jankura and Mr. P. Dudra participated in the 56th EOD Working Group meeting that was held in USA, FWB from 14 to 18 MAY 2018.
Aim of the meeting was information exchange, review of ongoing processes and update on EOD publications.

COL R. Császár introduced himself to the members of NATO EOD WG as a new Director of EOD COE. Members of EOD COE presented Centre`s training activities, progress within NATO Defence Planning Process, update on standardization of EOD Disruptors/Dearmers and overview of two main projects that the Centre is responsible for – NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials 2018 and Integration of the Exoskeleton in the Battlefield, both events being a part of NATO Defence against Terrorism Program of Work under coordination of ESCD NATO HQ.

Furthermore, the Centre as a team leader of NATO EOD WG Terminology Team introduced updates of 38 EOD Terminology entries that were approved or slightly modified by the members of the Terminology Team. Several important projects related to post attack collection tool were introduced to the attendees of EOD WG. USA introduced CALDERA (Crater Algorithm Design for Explosive Charge Analysis), FERRET (Forensic Encyclopaedia Result Retrieval and Evaluation Tool), VIPER (Vehicle-Borne IED Post Event Results Tool (VIPER) and FRA introduced CITHARE (Counter IED Threat Analysis Report Exploitation). Program of the last day of the 56th EOD Working Group meeting included visit of the U.S. EOD School premises with practical demonstrations of the school activities.

The event was very beneficial for the EOD community of interest and the chairman set the priorities for the future with the focus on AEODP-10 (Principles and Minimum Standards of Proficiency) and AEODP-7 (EOD Equipment Requirements and Equipment).
