In line with the cooperation agreement between NATO EOD COE and the Romanian Land Forces Command, the NATO EOD COE has delivered two iterations of the Homemade Explosives Course – Basic (HMEC-B) at the Romanian Combat Support Training Centre in Ramnicu Valcea.
The entire HMEC-B curriculum is focused on initial recognition of the homemade explosives’ laboratory and different groups of homemade explosives. Moreover, trainees of the course are about to understand the chemicals and precursors’ sensitivity & functionality, with appropriate measures when such agents are discovered. A single course iteration takes 3 working days, including field demonstration. The first iteration of course the Centre delivered was conducted from 19 SEP to 21 SEP 2023 and the second from 26 SEP to 28 SEP 2023 period of time.
In total, 29 participants from 12 NATO countries and one Interoperability Platform country enrolled for the course. Finally, all of the trainees showed their obtained skills and successfully proved the course’s graduation criteria. The high quality of the course that the course’s graduates expressed could not be recognized without the dedication and well-done support of the Romanian Combat Support Training Centre in Ramnicu Valcea.
