During two full days, between 14 and 15 AUG 2018, National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) in partnership with the EOD Warrior Foundation organized the 2018 Global Explosive Ordnance Disposal Symposium & Exhibition (GESE) at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, North Bethesda, MD, USA.
This unique event address training and technology requirements for the joint service EOD force and includes a focus on interagency interoperability with other government agencies and around the world combating WMD. It is examining EOD operational needs, supported by Industry’s advances in training and technology as more complex IED, WMD and UXO threats are encountered each day. This year’s symposium focused on the theme “Modernizing to Meet New Threats.”
NATO EOD COE participated on the event through his representative, LTC Constantin EFRIM (ROU A), head of the Transformation Support Department. During the panel “International Views”, in line with the thematic of the event, our representative briefed the audience about the NATO project named “Integration of the Exoskeleton in the Battlefield”. This project started in middle of 2017, being developed by the EOD COE in cooperation with NATO Communications and Information Agency and will be completed before the end of 2019 with the final product, Concept of employment. The presentation was well appreciated as our speaker received positive feedback from the audience.
