Joint Hungarian and German Attaché Office Visit of the NATO EOD COE

 

The Defence Attaché of Germany in Slovakia, LTC Martin WENDT, and Defence Attaché of Hungary in Slovakia, LTC László Tamás LESKÓ, visited the EOD Centre of Excellence on 29th April 2025.

COL František Mihalovic (SVK-A), the Director of the EOD COE, provided a briefing on the Centre's history, structure, mission and vision, highlighting the achievements in the past 14 years, the current work and the future challenges and opportunities.

LTC Alexander Hugyar (SVK-A), the Head of the EOD Education and Training Department, provided a briefing on the Centre´s education and training activities. He emphasised the quality of the delivered courses, the high number of students and the increasing request from NATO and IP Countries during the last years. The Centre’s accreditation and Quality Assurance processes were also introduced.

MAJ Adrian PETER (ROU-A), the Head of the Transformation Support Department, presented the work in the area of NATO defence planning, NATO standardization and NATO lessons learned. The EOD Workshop series was introduced as a platform for sharing relevant information for the EOD community of interest, highlighting the last event organized by the EOD COE in 5-6 November 2024 in Samorin, Slovakia. Besides that, the centre’s study on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) influence on EOD capabilities development was also discussed.

LTC Witold PLEZIA (POL-A), the head of the EOD Technologies Department, presented the ETACS Project and showcased the capabilities of the VR software. He also introduced to the visitors the 8th edition of the Demonstration & Trials series, which will be conducted on 8-9 October 2025 in Bratislava, Slovakia and which is considered to be the EOD COE’s Diamond event for this year.

COL František Mihalovic concluded the visit by thanking the visitors for their interest in the EOD COE activities, by asking for their national support to the Centre’s objectives and by inviting them to the next events.
