On December 18, 2024, MG Miroslav Lorinc, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces officially visited the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE) in Trenčín, Slovakia. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for MG Lorinc to gain a comprehensive understanding of the EOD COE's mission, vision, training activities and contributions to the EOD field.
Upon arrival at the EOD COE, MG Lorinc was warmly welcomed by COL František Mihalovič, the EOD COE Director. Following the initial greetings, the visit proceeded with a detailed presentation designed to provide MG Lorinc with a thorough overview of the EOD COE.
The presentation covered several key aspects of the Center, beginning with a historical overview tracing its establishment and evolution. This provided context for the Center's current role and its significance within the broader international EOD community. The presentation then delved into the core elements of the EOD COE: its mission, outlining its purpose and objectives; its vision, describing its aspirational future state; and, crucially, the main tasks it undertakes to achieve its mission.
The presence and participation of foreign members of the center as well as the US liaison officer further emphasized the international cooperation and interoperability that are integral to the EOD COE's work. This collaborative approach highlighted the Center's role in fostering international partnerships and promoting best practices in EOD operations.
Following the general overview, the visit focused on specific aspects of the EOD COE's activities. LTC Alexander Hugyar delivered a presentation dedicated to the Center's Education and Training activities. This presentation showcased the various Courses offered by the EOD COE, highlighting their scope, curriculum, and target audiences. It emphasised the Center's commitment to developing highly skilled EOD personnel through rigorous and comprehensive training.
Subsequently, MAJ Alžbeta Golská presented an overview of the main tasks carried out by the Support Department. This presentation shed light on the essential logistical, administrative, and technical support functions that underpin the EOD COE's operational effectiveness.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for MG Lorinc to observe the expertise, dedication, and international collaboration that shape the EOD COE in Trenčín.
