From 2 to 4 July 2019 the Romanian EOD Training Base Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Catalin SARACU, accompanied by EOD Chief Instructor Lieutenant Colonel Ionel BACANU visited the NATO EOD COE in Trencin and observed the delivery of HME-A (Homemade Explosives Course Advanced) in Military Training Area (MTA) Lest.
On behalf of the Director NATO EOD COE, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander HUGYAR (SVK-A) and Lieutenant Colonel Constantin EFRIM (ROU-A) welcomed the Romanian delegation. Following the agenda the ROU delegation observed the HME-A course scenarios that were practiced in MTA Lest and later on exchanged the information and opinions about training techniques and delivering methodology.
The programme of visit was for one day overlapping with the programme of visit of the Swedish Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Demining Centre – sharing the common agenda to observe the delivery of HME-A course in MTA Lest.
The meeting was fruitful for all participants and it has shown the common interest in the training of EOD specialists according to the NATO needs.
The visit of Romanian delegations was concluded by recognizing institutions` common areas of interest and set up conditions for their possible extended cooperation.
