The ISAF EOD Operators Lessons Learned Seminar, 05 - 06 Dec 2012

The EOD COE delegation headed by Deputy Director, LTC Richard Vidal (FRA-A), conducted this event organized by the LLA Section (CPT Janovics, 1LT Dobranský and LTC Ret Fuček). In harmony with seminar objectives, this activity was NATO Secret classified and was opened to the ISAF contributing nations.

Participants from 7 NATO nations (USA, GBR, DEU, ITA, POL, CZE and SVK) and representatives from the C-IED COE and the JIEDDO took part in this event, mostly with IEDD and qualified EOD personnel. Briefings provided very valuable insights and food for thoughts. The mutual EOD background set a productive soil to share mostly IEDs-related accurate information and obtained tactical experience for the benefit of all attendees.

Based on the first impression feedback, it is recognised that there is a need for such a space of information sharing at the very tactical level among the EOD community. It was very appreciated that the meeting went deeper beyond general discussions and provided a tactical background based on operators’ real life and personal lessons learned. It is believed that the next seminar might be extended in order to include EOD staff officers as well.
