The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE) was proud to take part in the 23rd International Concept Development and Experimentation (ICD&E) Conference, hosted by Allied Command Transformation (ACT) from October 30 to November 2, 2023, in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. This prestigious event, centered around the theme, "On the Path to a Multi-Domain Enabled Alliance," emphasized the significance of ACT's Warfare Development Agenda and its alignment with NATO's top priorities.
Gathering more than two hundred delegates from 30 nations, the conference brought together a diverse array of participants, including representatives from NATO Command and Force Structure, NATO Centers of Excellence, NATO partner nations, industry experts, and academics. The occasion served as a unique opportunity for the Concept Development and Experimentation (CD&E) community to come together and discuss their collective efforts in shaping the future of the Alliance.
CD&E stands at the forefront of NATO's ongoing transformation. This dynamic framework integrates an array of innovative methods and tools, driving the Alliance's evolution by nurturing creative ideas and transforming them into practical, effective solutions. The ICD&E Conference is a pivotal platform for brainstorming, experimentation, and sharing insights to propel NATO's journey toward a more versatile and capable alliance.
ACT's choice of the theme, "On the Path to a Multi-Domain Enabled Alliance," underscores the evolving nature of modern warfare and NATO's commitment to adapting to these changes. The shared commitment to innovation and experimentation was evident as the CD&E community explored new horizons to address complex challenges that may arise in multi-domain operations. NATO's vision for the future revolves around a more agile, adaptable, and responsive Alliance. The ICD&E Conference serves as a key enabler in achieving this vision, allowing participants to envision and test innovative concepts, emerging technologies, and operational methodologies that will guide NATO's transformation.
The EOD COE's participation at the 23rd ICD&E Conference was represented by Mr. Vladimir Vostiar who brought its knowledge and expertise to the table, shedding light on the role of EOD within a multi-domain warfare context.
