Continuous contribution of the NATO EOD COE to the NATO’s Counter Improvised Explosive Disposal Military Discipline

Respecting the cross disciplinary function of the Counter Improvised Explosive Disposal (C-IED) Military Discipline  in NATO’s Education and Training (E&T), the NATO EOD COE representatives Lieutenant Colonel Alexander HUGYAR and Major  Marek VLNKA participated at the 10th C-IED Annual Discipline Conference (ADC).
This year, C-IED ADC was hosted by C-IED Centre of Excellence from 07 to 08 MAR 2023, at the Hoyo De Manzanares, Spain. The annual event provided to NATO’s C-IED military discipline community of interest e.g., Requirement Authority, Department Head and representatives of the respective discipline Education and Training Facilities a platform to share the C-IED area specific E&T aspects to which the EOD expertise is part of.

Following the NATO’s  challenges in improvised threats the next key objectives were discussed:

  • revision plan of the  E&T respective directives with procedures to plan and program E&T solutions to NATO’s C-IED requirements,
  • development of the Education, Training, Exercises and Evaluation Functional system,
  • synergy of the C-IED E&IT with Collective Training and Exercises,
  • update of the C-IED Discipline Alignment Plan 2022 that reflects E&T demands of particular positions at NATO Command Structure and the NATO’s Force Structure.
