8th EOD Workshop, Online Event

The 8th EOD WS held on 05-06 May 2021 was an indirect continuum of the EOD LL seminars and workshops organised by the EOD COE since 2012. This year, the event designed for the EOD and related Communities of Interest was organised as an online event for the first time.
 
The NATO EOD COE took the burden of organising the WS as an online meeting due to the pandemic situation in the world. It was recognisable technological challenge for the centre. On the other hand, it provided an opportunity for many SMEs from the EOD and related communities to take part in it.

The impressive number of registered participants (up to 300 SMEs) from all continents around the world proved that there is a need to have such a platform (although online) for sharing perspectives and lessons amongst military specialists, producers, and academics.
 

The online EOD WS was focused on developing following topics/projects:

• RC and autonomous technologies as emerging applicable tools for the EOD   
• Virtual and Augmented Reality technologies as tools for the EOD        
• Best practices within the spectrum of response to EOD incidents (case studies)     
• Current and foreseen challenges in the EOD environment)            

The given presentations, questions and answers, videos, and the live demo were well received and appreciated as valuable entries for further works for benefit of the EOD community of Interest.
​In addition, this online event proved to be a viable tool for sharing views, ideas, and lessons beyond the EOD Community of Interests. In addition, it provided a great deal of motivation to organise similar events in the future.
