Attack the Network Tactical Awareness Course

Twenty-one course members from 6 NATO Nations learned the mechanisms to plan and conduct "Defeat the IED System" activities at the tactical level. All participants were trained to comprehend the entire IED system and to look at it from the different angles. ACT and ACT-contracted Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) introduced the students to the proactive steps against the IED threat and the ways to find solutions to this historical, current and future problem.

In the two-day theoretical part the participants were taught the mechanisms for denying the enemy the ability to effectively source manufacture and deploy IEDs. During the ensuing three-day staff exercise the students worked in syndicates and learned to use and apply the newly acquired knowledge.

The primary and desired outcome of this joint effort was to gain the full intelligence picture of the operational environment and the insurgent networks and, subsequently, to develop viable courses of action to counter the networks' vulnerabilities and disrupt them eventually.
