The first idea of exploitation of the system was to create a collaborative „space“ for intelligence services. After 14 years of functioning the BICES has became the most widely used system in operations with NATO involvement, in static installations and headquarters. Moreover, it is also used by some PfP countries.
Within the NATO EOD COE the system will be established in order to achieve information as an EOD functional area is concerned. The NATO EOD COE plans to become the information hub, the priority of Lessons Learned section will be sharing information at the NATO SECRET level.
The concept of BICES was presented during the EOD COE Spring Steering Committee meeting in April 2012 and endorsed by the representatives of Sponsoring Nations. The Military Intelligence of the Slovak Republic has supported the Centre with a great deal of help and assistance. In addition, it provides the Centre with sufficient number of workstations as well as knowledge and experience from using of BICES and will represent the Centre as its customer in the BICES Group Executive (BGX; former NATO BICES Agency – NBA). The EOD COE will reach the full operational capability in July 2013.
