The CISM International Day of Military Sports is celebrated in Trencin too.

On 18 February, NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence members participated in a “Run for Peace” event in Trencin to commemorate the foundation of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) and demonstrate “Peace and Friendship Through Sport.”

This global event unites hundreds of thousands of soldiers from member countries in a day of synchronised physical activity. The primary objective is to underscore the significance of sports in enhancing military performance and to foster collaboration among domestic and international sports organisations, associations, and civil societies dedicated to promoting "Peace and Friendship through Sport."

NATO EOD COE proudly participated in this worldwide initiative by organising a "Commemorative Run." Participants embarked on different distances, with many soldiers, civilian staff, and retired soldiers choosing to complete multiple laps at their pace. The diverse group, encompassing various ages and genders, was united by a shared commitment to physical fitness and camaraderie.

This event highlighted the importance of physical activity in military life and reinforced the bonds of unity and friendship among participants, embodying the CISM motto: "Friendship through Sport."

NATO EOD COE would like to emphasise the importance of sport in the performance of the military profession and express our solidarity to CISM.
