Advanced course on countering the threat of Home-Made Explosives

On 08-12 September 2014 the EOD COE organized another “Homemade Explosives” (HME) class specifically customized to the needs of EOD operators, Explosion Investigators and other responders that could be called upon to respond to a possible HME Lab, or assist in identifying, rendering safe and ultimately disposing of suspected HME.

During the summer months of 2014, the EOD COE Training Branch organized, together with contributions of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from Ammunition Testing Centre (ATC) and Institute of Energetic Materials (University of Pardubice, Czech Republic), two runs of the Homemade Explosives Course – basic.
Delegation of the Italian National C-IED Centre visits the EOD COE

On 17th July 2014 the official delegation of the Italian C-IED Centre of Excellence visited the EOD COE. The delegation led by COL Mauritzio MASCARINO, the Director, along with LTC Massimiliano DE CICCO and CPT Marco APPODIA, was welcomed on the premises of the EOD COE and hosted by Director COL Ľubomír MRVÁŇ.
Initial EOD Staff Officer Training

11 students from 8 countries successfully completed two weeks of NATO accredited Initial EOD Staff Officer Training conducted by NATO EOD COE from 16th till 27th June 2014.

The Centre of Excellence for EOD recently delivered the „Home-Made Explosives Course – Basic“ for 43 members of the Czech Armed Forces, particularly those representing the Military Police, Special Forces, EOD units and EOD Technical Information Centre.

Change of Command

On 30th January 2014 the Change of Command ceremony in the Centre of Excellence for Explosive Ordnance Disposal took place for saying goodbye to its commander, Colonel Bielený and welcoming a new leader, Colonel Ľubomír Mrváň.
The ceremony officiated Lieutenant General Peter Vojtek, Chief of Defence of the Slovak Republic.
