To support and contribute to the NATO Defence Planning Process (NDPP) and to bridge the gaps of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE), the Subject Matter Expertise in Capability Requirements, on 22 February 2022 the NATO EOD COE held an internal Defence Planning (DP) meeting with the Centre’s Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The EOD COE is a permanent member of the MILENG DPAG established under the NATO Senior Joint Engineer Conference (NSJEC).

From 07 FEB to 11 FEB 2022 and from 14 FEB to 18 FEB 2022, the NATO EOD COE organised two iterations of the Former Warsaw Pact Ammunition Course – Basic (FWPAC-B). The courses were held in the premises of the 905th Specialised Combat Support Centre in Novaky, Slovakia. The course consisted of theoretical lectures and practical identification of munition. In total, 20 participants from 5 NATO countries (BEL, CZE, GER, SVK, USA) successfully completed the training.

On 18-20 January 2022, the NATO HQ SACT Quality Assurance Team of Experts conducted an on-site virtual visit to the EOD COE to assess the development and overall management of the Centre. Due to COVID-19 counter-measures and travel restrictions, the evaluation & verification was conducted through on-line meeting

The MILENG COE, Ingolstadt, o organised a fruitful event – the MILENG COE’s Information Exchange Seminar 2021 and the Industry Day on 6 - 9 December 2021.The whole seminar was concentrated on the role of MILENG capabilities in support of dispersed operations. The major theme was very demanding and induced participants to solve intricate issues during the syndicates.

From the 8th to the 12th of November 2021 NATO EOD COE organized the NATO CBRN EOD Incident Management Staff Officer Training (CBRN EOD IM SOT) in Trencin and Novaky, Slovakia. The NATO CBRN EOD IM SOT comprised of theoretical lessons and practical exercises combined with live demonstration. All 11 students successfully completed the training and fulfilled the Education and Individual Training student’s assessment criteria embedded in the NATO EOD COE Quality Assurance Policy.

The 23rd NATO EOD COE Steering Committee Meeting was held on 25 – 28 October 2021 in the centre´s premises in Trenčín, Slovakia.Sponsoring Nations representatives met to discuss and find consensus and eventually to approve COE Director's proposals on the Programme of Work 2022, Budget 2022, Medium Term Financial Plan 2023 – 2027, EOD COE Financial Administrative Procedures update, modification of EOD COE Structure and Job Descriptions.

On 13th and 14th October 2021, NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials 2021 was held in Bratislava, INCHEBA Expo area.This biennial event designated to the experts from NATO and partner armed forces and defence industry highlighted the latest EOD technology achievements through live demonstrations, static exhibitions, seminar and conferences.

LTC Sandor ZSIROS, the COS of NATO EOD COE, participated in the 1st Regional Military Engineering Conference, organized by HQ MND-SE held in Bucharest, Romania, from 28 to 30 SEP 2021.
The main goal of the event was to gather the Engineering community and to sustain a viable regional network of military engineers

The first iteration of the Homemade Explosive Course - Basic took place from 13 to 15 September 2021 in Ramnicu Valcea, Romania. The course was hosted for the first time by Romanian Engineering and EOD Training Centre. Duration of the course was three days with a total of 16 participants from ten NATO countries and one IPC country.

Between 7th and 9th of September 2021, Head of EOD Technologies Department LTC Damian Piórko represented the EOD COE during Demining and EOD Seminar in Sarajevo, B&H. Event was organized by Mr. Martyn Hill, Intelligence-Sec, with its business office in London. The whole event was an excellent example of how demining and EOD commence to merge nowadays.

Based on the endorsement of the NATO EOD COE Steering Committee at the 18th meeting in April 2019 and signed Cooperation Programme with the Romanian Land Forces Staff, the Home Made Explosive Course – Basic, Train the Trainer training was conducted by COE Mobile Training Team (HMEC-B T3 MTT) for the Romanian Land Forces.

Based on warm invitation from 15th Engineer Regiment of Czech Armed Forces, the EOD COE delegation took part at military trials of UGV Talon GEN V on the 14th of July 2021. The trials were led by the QinetiQ representatives (USA) and supported by EOD experts of 15th ENG Rgt at the testing area of military airport in Bechyne.

Since AUG 2009, the NATO EOD COE position of Deputy Branch Head at Education and Training (E&T) branch is assigned to the Czech Republic, one of the COE Sponsoring Nation. They provide an experienced and educated subject matter expert from their national pool of EOD capabilities.

In line with the NATO EOD COE effort to increase the Centre’s cooperation with Academia, the Director of the NATO EOD COE Colonel Robert CSASZAR visited the Slovak Republic Armed Forces Academy (AFA) in Liptovsky Mikulas on 14 July 2021. the visit culminated by signing of the bilateral agreement that determines conditions for future beneficial cooperation between the NATO EOD COE and the SVK AFA.

From the 5th to 9th of July 2021 the NATO EOD COE organized the Homemade Explosives Course – Advanced. The course was performed with the assistance of Subject Matter Experts from Thermo Fischer Scientific (USA), EODD Company (NLD), Institute of Energetic Materials (University of Pardubice, CZE), EOD Group (BEL), 15th Engineering Regiment (CZE), the National Centre of EOD and CBRN (SVK) and the Engineer Battalion (SVK).
