The Danish Defence Command hosted the 63rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Working Group (EOD WG) Meeting over the period 24-28 October 2022, in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is the most important event for the NATO EOD community of interest.

The 2022 International Concept Development and Experimentation (ICDE) Conference took place from 25 October to 27 October 2022 in Budapest, Hungary.

Based on ambition to continuously improve the Education and Training deliverables, from 17 OCT to 21 OCT 2022, the NATO EOD COE organized a so called Homemade Explosive Trials (HME Trials).
This year, the HME Trials event was held at the premises of Munition testing center Novaky (SVK).

From 26 SEPT to 6 OCT 2022 the Icelandic Coast Guard hosted multi-national Bomb Disposal Exercise “The Northern Challenge”. The Aim of the exercise was to train response to real-life terrorist incidents involving improvised and military explosive devices, similar to those that have occurred in recent NATO missions and of those to be expected in future missions.

In line with cooperation agreement between NATO EOD COE and the Romanian Land Forces Command, the NATO EOD COE has delivered the Homemade Explosives Course – Basic (HMEC-B) at the Romanian Combat Support Training Center in Ramnicu Valcea.
From 20 SEP to 29 SEP 2022, NATO EOD COE delivered two iterations of the HMEC-B.

The ”International Interoperability, Standardization and Modernization Conference - Supporting NATO's Operational, Material Capabilities and Deterrence Principles” was held from 27th to 29th September 2022 in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava.

A UAV named EODrone was developed in cooperation with Bulgarian AERO VISION company to be integrated into Extended Reality part of the project. The EODrone technical features meet the required specifications.

From the 11th to the 15th of July 2022 and from the 18th to the 22nd of July 2022, NATO EOD COE organized two iterations of Homemade Explosive Course - Advanced (HMEC-A) in Military Training Area Lest, Slovakia. The HMEC-A introduces responding personnel to the precursors used by criminals and terrorists in the manufacturing process of homemade explosives, along with the synthetized finished explosive mixtures.

That has been 10 years since the NATO EOD COE received a request from Allied Command Operations (ACO) to analyse a missing Homemade Explosives Education (HME). Respecting the ACO request, from 2012 to 2022, the NATO EOD COE has been delivered 20 iterations of the HME Course Advanced (HMEC-A).

Based on the NATO EOD COE effort to recognize and increase cooperation with the EOD Education and Training Facilities, Director of the NATO EOD COE Colonel Robert CSASZAR invited the Latvian Training and Doctrines Command (TRADOC) representatives to visit the NATO EOD COE. Upon accepted invitation, LTV TRADOC delegation visited the NATO EOD COE on 20 JUL 2022, at the Military Training Area Lest, Slovakia.

The Transformation Support Department (TSD) from the NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Centre of Excellence (COE) organized the 3rd Writing Session for AJP-3.18 “Allied Joint Doctrine for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Support to Operations” review for the period 22-24 June 2022, in Piestany, Slovakia. This publication describes an important area of expertise of Military Engineering (MILENG) function and provides valuable guidance for operational level commanders and staff for planning, conducting and monitoring EOD support to joint operations in the most professional manner.

The Hellenic Directorate of the Engineers hosted the 22nd Military Engineering Working Group (MILENG WG) Meeting over the period 13-17 JUNE 2022, in Loutraki, Greece.
The aim of this group is to improve military engineering capabilities within NATO capability development framework.

The 23rd Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices Working Group (C-IED WG) Meeting was hosted by the Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices Centre of Excellence (C-IED COE) in Toledo (Spain) over the period 23-26 MAY 2022. The event was organized inside the Spanish Infantry Academy.
The aim of this group was to work on the NATO C-IED priorities in accordance with NATO Military Committee Land Standardization Board (MCLSB) guidance.
