NATO Senior Joint Engineer Conference 2024

The Director, Colonel Frantisek Mihalovic, and the Chief of Staff, Colonel Zsolt Szilagyi from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE) participated in the NATO Senior Joint Engineer Conference (NSJEC) in Edelweiss Resort, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, 12-14 November. The annual meeting was Co-Chaired by DACOS Capabilities (ACT) and ACOS Joint Engineering (ACO) and hosted by the United States of America.
Another ETACS Field Test in Hungary

Following the completion of development efforts and workshops, the time has come once again for end-user testing! The first location of this year’s field tests was Hungary, where the NATO EOD COE Technology Department, represented by MSGT Gábor Korom, Deputy Project Manager (DPM) of the ETACS project, conducted the EOD/IED VR Training and XR Combat Support KIT (ETACS) field test.
10th EOD Workshop 2024

The 10th EOD WS was held in the period of 5 - 6 NOV 2024 in Samorin, SVK as an in-person event. The workshop was continuum of the EOD COE WS series since 2012. This event brought together around a hundred international experts, practitioners, academics and innovators to explore critical developments in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).
Ignition point 24-2

The “Ignition Point 24-2” C-IED exercise, organized by the Hungarian Defence Forces 1st Engineer and Riverine Guard Regiment, took place at the HDF Military Training Area in Újdörögd from October 14-18, 2024. The NATO EOD Centre of Excellence (COE) was invited to participate as observers, represented by Warrant Officer Gábor Korom.
NATO CBRN EOD Incident Management Staff Officer Training 2024

From October 14th to 18th, 2024, NATO EOD COE organized NATO CBRN EOD Incident Management Staff Officer Training (CBRN EOD IM SOT) in Trencin and Novaky, Slovakia. The NATO CBRN EOD IM SOT consisted of theoretical lessons, practical exercises, and live demonstrations.

Northern Challenge Exercise 2024

From 24 SEPT to 10 OCT 2024, the Icelandic Coast Guard hosted the multinational Bomb Disposal Exercise "The Northern Challenge (NC Ex)". The NC Ex aimed to train response to real-life terrorist incidents involving IEDs and other EOD-related scenarios, similar to those that have occurred in recent NATO missions and to be expected in the future.

The Hungarian Explosive Ordnance Disposal Day, observed on September 27th, is a special occasion in the Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF). The day aims to honour all those who have lost their lives while disposing of explosives and the professionals who continue to put their lives in danger during times of war. These heroes deserve special recognition since they put their lives at stake for the country and its people.

The Military Engineering Center of Excellence (MILENG COE), in close coordination with the Supreme Allied Command Transformation (HQ SACT), organised the NATO-Accredited COE Directors Conference in Ingolstadt (GER) from 09 to 12 September 2024. The NATO EOD COE was represented by Colonel František Mihalovič.
