From the 17th of June to the 21st of June 2024 and from the 24th to the 28th of June 2024, NATO EOD COE organized two iterations of Homemade Explosive Course - Advanced (HMEC-A) in Military Training Area Lest, Slovakia. During five days, a selected pool of instructors lectured students to identify the hazards of mixed or partially mixed precursor chemicals, identify unknown materials and related hazards, process a scene for evidentiary purposes, and safely remove and dispose of these hazards.

The EOD COE representative Mr Peter DUDRA participated in the 49th Allied Joint Doctrine Working Group (AJOD WG) meeting held in the vicinity of the Hotel Almond, Gdansk, Poland from 21 to 24 MAY 2024 and organized by Doctrine and Training Centre of the Polish Armed Forces. Welcome words and opening address were provided by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, Major General Karol DYMANOWSKI, PhD.

From 27th to 29th of May 2024, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE) delegation joined the CBRN EOD Doctrines and Standards Synchronization Meeting, which was held at the Joint Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRN Defence COE) in Vyškov (CZE).

The event took place at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, from 22 to 23 May 2024 and was a great opportunity for our Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE) to promote our work and share examples of our products and outputs delivered to NATO on behalf of our sponsoring nations.

"The NATO EOD COE has also been invited to attend the one-week comprehensive "HUN EOD Drone Practice and Exercise Event" organised by the Hungarian Defense Forces 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Riverine Guard Regiment (HDF 1st EOD and RGR). During the event, MSGT Gabor KOROM represented the EOD COE on a day when the EOD Battalion Commander MAJ Balázs BUKTA presented the matrix-based scenarios that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams had to execute.

NATO Lessons Learned Conference 2024 (NLLC24) was hosted by the NATO Joint Analysis Lessons Learned Center (JALLC) in Lisbon from 15 to 18 April 2024.
The theme for the NLLC24 was "NATO LL Capability Development in support of NATO 2030 efforts."

How to properly plan, prepare, command, control and coordinate EOD operations within multinational operation at battalion and brigade level of command? Not only these questions, but much more was explained and exercised during the NATO EOD Staff Officer Training (SOT) course which was organized by the NATO EOD COE and hosted by Military Engineering and CBRN Training Centre in Wroclaw, Poland from the 08 APR to 19 APR 2024.

Colonel Zsolt Szilagyi, Chief of Staff, represented our COE at the SHAPE MILENG Strategic Alignment Conference was organized by NATO SHAPE in Mons, Belgium on 17-18 APR 2024. The event provided an overview on the main strategic MILENG topics after the areas of expertise. The Conference is a good platform for senior level engineers to have a sufficient level of understanding to guide national force development and theatre preparation in a unified effort, aligned with NATO plans.

From April 16 to 18, 2024, NATO representatives gathered at the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC) in Souda Bay, Crete, for the Annual Multinational Solutions Synchronization Conference (MSSC). This event plays a pivotal role in the NATO Defence Planning Process (NDPP), aiming to address ongoing developments and challenges.

From March 25 to 27, 2024, NATO's Headquarters Allied Command Transformation, in collaboration with the Centre Interarmées de Concepts, de Doctrines et d’Expérimentations (CICDE), hosted the Strategic Foresight (SF) Future Operating Environment (FOE) Workshop. This event, taking place at the prestigious École Militaire in Paris, marked a continuation of the dialogue begun at the initial FOE workshop in London in November 2023.

With reference to C-IED discipline global programming, the NATO’s appointed C-IED military discipline Requirement Authority (RA), Department Head (DH) and representatives of the respective discipline Education and Training Facilities (ETF) conducted the 11th C IED ADC. The C IED ADC was held from 12 MAR to 13 MAR 2023 (11 MAR and the 14 MAR days on travel) at the C IED COE premises in Hoyo de Manzanares, Spain.

To develop our Community of Interest (COI) Colonel Zsolt Szilágyi, the NATO EOD COE Chief of Staff, and Master Sergeant Gábor Korom, the NCO of the NATO EOD COE Technology Department and Deputy Project Leader of the ETACS project, conducted a visit to the Hungarian Defence Forces 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal and River Guard Regiment on 21-22.03.2024.
